Donations

The Brazil Lions Club is currently accepting used eyeglasses and hearing aids for donations through a recycling program.

Donation boxes have been set up at Terre Haute Savings Bank, 260 E. National Ave., Brazil, or The Brazil Times, 100 N. Meridian St., Brazil.

Scheduled Meetings

The Clay County Local Emergency Planning Committee will conduct its regular 2012 meetings prior to the Clay County Fire Chief's Association at 6 p.m., with the chief's meetings at 7 p.m., during the following dates:

* May 15 -- At the Dick Johnson Fire House,

* Aug. 21 -- At the Van Buren Fire House, and

* Nov. 20 -- At the Posey Township Fire House.

Now Open

The Parke/Vermillion Crisis Pregnancy center is now open.

The business is located at 118 Ohio St., Rockville, on the north side of the square.

Center hours are Tuesday and Wednesday, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., and Thursday, from 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

The business offers free pregnancy tests, confidential peer counseling, diapers and other basic baby items.

Dinner and Theater

The Parke Players -- based in Rockville -- will put on a production of, "The Kitchen Witches," Saturday and Tuesday.

Showtimes are 7 p.m., each evening. All tickets are $7 and may be purchased at the door of the Historic Ritz Theater or reserved online at www.parkeplayers.com.

Music!

Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College and the Department of Music and Theatre will present Rodgers and Hammerstein's class, "The Sound of Music," Saturday and Sunday, in the Cecilian Auditorium on SMWC's campus.

The production will be Saturday, at 2 p.m., and 8 p.m., and Sunday, at 2 p.m.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children 10-16 and senior citizens, free for children 10-under, and area college students with ID.

SMWC Technical Director and Brazil City Council member Tyler Hutcheson will design the set.

'Dog Days'

The Clay County Humane Shelter, 8280 N. CR 125 W., Brazil, will conduct the "Dog Days of Spring," Saturday, from noon-5 p.m.

The event will be set up as a half-price auction event.

Officials stated they have several pets looking for homes.

All animals have received shots and have been spayed or neutered.

Cost for a dog is $65. Cost for a female cat is $40 and cost for a male cat is $25.

Mission Event

Center Point United Methodist Church will host its fourth mission event Sunday, March 4, at 2 p.m., with a free concert by Graybeard.

At 3 p.m., Chris Pell will oversee a pie auction.

Desserts, homemade yeast rolls and noodles will be available.

Following the auction, there will be a freewill offering chili supper.

An opportunity to support the mission efforts will be available throughout the event.

All money collected will go to support The Rock ministry for children, located in Clay City.

Meeting Set

The Clay County Historical Society will conduct a meeting Monday, March 5, at 7 p.m., in the lower level of the museum.

The guest speaker will be Marjorie E. Hopkins, author of, "Dying to Meet Him: Wit and Wisdom from a Funeral Director's Wife," which was released nationally Dec. 20.

Veterans Expo

The 2012 Veterans Expo will take place from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Tuesday, March 6, at the V.F.W. Post 972, 1111 Veterans Square, Terre Haute.

Fish Fry!

The Knights of Columbus will conduct a Fish Fry March 9, at the Kennedy Crossing Bingo Hall, from 4-7 p.m.

Family price is $15. Individual prices are $7 for adults, $4 for children, and no charge for children under 3.

Pancakes!

The House of Hope will host an all-you-can-eat Pancake Breakfast Saturday, March 10, from 8 a.m.-noon.

The event will take place at the House of Hope, 5525 W. U.S. 40, west of Brazil.

House of Hope will serve IHOP pancakes, sausage, eggs, coffee, juice and milk.

A $5 donation will cover each person served.

All proceeds go toward the continued support of the ministry.

Dancing Fundraiser

The Area 7 Agency on Aging and Disabled will conduct the "Dance Fitness for Funds," event Saturday, March 10.

The event will take place at the Booker T. Washington Park Community Center, Terre Haute.

Doors will open at 9:30 a.m., with the fun beginning at 10.

Cost is $12 in advance or $15 at the door.

DAR Meeting

The Daughters of the American Revolution are forming a new chapter in Clay County.

An organizing meeting has been scheduled for Saturday, March 10, at 10 a.m., at the Clay County Historical Society.
