NHS percussion unit wins competition

CORYDON -- The Northview High School winter percussion unit took part in the Corydon Central Invitational Saturday, placing first in their division.

Competing in the PSA Class, Northview scored an 81.30. North Harrison placed second with an 80.10, while Corydon Central was third at 79.95.

The Knights will take part in the Mt. Vernon Invitational Saturday.

Again competing in the PSA Class, Northview will perform at 7:14 p.m.

Other schools competing in PSA include Danville (3:30 p.m.), Maconaquah (3:39 p.m.), Yorktown (3:48 p.m.), Terre Haute North (3:57 p.m.), Tri-West (4:06 p.m.), Elkhart Memorial (4:15 p.m.), Pendleton Heights (4:24 p.m.), Silver Creek (4:33 p.m.), Terre Haute South (4:42 p.m.), New Albany (5:06 p.m.), South Central (5:15 p.m.), Zionsville (5:24 p.m.), Corydon Central (5:33 p.m.), Greenwood (5:42 p.m.), Hagerstown (5:51 p.m.), North Harrison (6 p.m.), Avon "A" (6:09 p.m.), Perry Meridian (6:18 p.m.), Vincennes Lincoln (6:27 p.m.), Noblesville (6:56 p.m.), Jay County (7:05 p.m.), Knox (7:23 p.m.), Mt. Vernon (7:32 p.m.), East Noble (7:41 p.m.), Taylor (7:50 p.m.), and Martinsville (7:59 p.m.).

Awards will be presented at 9:30 p.m.

The Clay City High School winter percussion unit will also compete Saturday.

Taking part in the New Palestine Invitational, Clay City will compete in PSCA Class.

Clay City is scheduled to perform at 4:38 p.m.

Other PSCA Class competitors include Reitz Memorial (4:29 p.m.), Owen Valley (4:47 p.m.), Heritage Hills (4:56 p.m.), Pike Central (5:05 p.m.), Springs Valley (5:14 p.m.), New Washington (5:23 p.m.), NorthWood (5:32 p.m.), Logansport (5:41 p.m.), Monroe Central (5:50 p.m.), Bishop Dwenger (5:59 p.m.), and Twin Lakes (6:08 p.m.).

Awards will be presented at 9:30 p.m.

Percussion units are judged on performance, general effect/artistry, visual, and yiming and penalty.
