North Clay girls split against Patriots

The North Clay girls' basketball teams split a pair of games at home against Owen Valley on Tuesday night.

The seventh-grade team produced a 31-20 victory as Stacy Payton poured in a game-high 16 points for the Knights. She hit on 3-of-4 free throws in the win and nailed a clutch 3-pointer in the third quarter that helped North Clay cement the victory.

Megan Sampson added six points for the Knights with Abby Conrad scoring five and Parker Spears adding four.

The eighth-grade squad didn't have the same success, falling by a 29-19 count despite five points from Hannah Reason and four by Faith Wells. Chantael Poorman had three points along with Bailey Fiddler. Baylee Secrest added in two points.

North Clay wraps up its season Thursday night at Greencastle beginning at 5:30 p.m. The seventh-grade is now 14-8 this season while the eighth-grade drops to 2-17.
