The following is a list of upcoming area events as provided to The Brazil Times:

Weather Class

A weather spotter class will take place at the Brazil Public Library Monday, March 12.

The class will begin at 4:30 p.m., and will offer free training on the interpretation of cloud structure and radar images associated with severe weather.

The class is free and open to the public.

Auditions

The Community Theater of Clay County will conduct auditions for "Dixie Swim Club," Monday, March 12, at 6:30 p.m., at the Lark Theater, Brazil.

The comedy involves five southern women, whose friendships began years ago on their college swim team, who set aside a long weekend every August to recharge those relationships.

As their lives unfold, the women rely on one another to get through the challenges of life.

All are encouraged to try out.

Crooks In Town

The Clay County Democrat Party will welcome U.S. 8th Congressional District candidate David Crooks to the community Tuesday, March 13.

The event will take place at the Staunton Community Center, from 4:30-6:30 p.m.

Meeting Scheduled

The Brazil Parks and Recreation Board will conduct a regular meeting Tuesday, March 13, at 7 p.m., in Brazil City Hall Council Chambers.

General business will be discussed and the public is welcome to attend.

The Brazil Board of Public Works and Safety will conduct a meeting Wednesday, March 14, at 10 a.m., in Brazil City Hall Council Chambers.

Council To Meet

The Brazil Common Council will conduct a regular meeting Wednesday, March 14, at 7 p.m., in Brazil City Hall Council Chambers.

General business will be discussed and the public is welcome to attend.

Special Meeting

The Clay County Commissioners will conduct a special meeting at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 15, in the Commissioner's Courtroom at the Clay County Courthouse.

The purpose of the meeting is to award contracts for appraisal support services, to consider amended equitable sharing agreements and to consider agreements to refinance First Mortgage Bonds.

Dinner Time!

The Fontanet Action Community Team has scheduled a soup and sandwich dinner for Friday, March 16, at the Fontanet Community Center/Firehouse.

The event will begin at 4 p.m., and conclude at 7:30.

All food will be donated, so there is no cost to attend.

Breakfast!

Bee Ridge Church will host an all-you-can-eat bacon and eggs breakfast Saturday, March 17, from 7-10, at the church, 10100 N. Kennedy's Crossing Rd., Brazil.

The food will be prepared by the "Bee Ridge Breakfast Crew." Other breakfast items will be available.

The public is invited to attend the event.

There is no charge, but a freewill donation will be accepted to benefit the Bee Ridge New Building Project.

Blood Drive

The Indiana Blood Center will host a blood drive from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., March 17, at Fusion Salon.

Relay Fundraiser

The Northview High School Key Club will conduct a Zumbathon Relay For Life Fundraiser from 1-3 p.m., Saturday, March 17.

The event will take place at the YMCA of Clay County, 225 E. Kruzan St., Brazil.

Cost to participate is $10, or $17 for a "Cool" T-shirt.

Church Program

The Little Historic Church at Carbon will conduct a program Saturday, March 17.

This month, the entertainment will be provided by the McKinley Hill Church Praise Band, Breaking Silence.

All are invited to attend.

There will be a pitch-in dinner at 6 p.m., with the program beginning at 7.

Bingo!

The Rockville PTO will conduct a Longaberger Basket Bingo event Sunday, March 18, at the Rockville Elementary School cafeteria.

Play will begin at 2 p.m. Doors open at 1.

Cost is $20 for 20 games of Bingo.

All proceeds will be used to fund student field trips and other PTO sponsored activities.

Raffle tickets will be available for purchase for the Reunion Picnic Basket and Large Stow Away Basket. Cost is $1 for a ticket or $6 for five tickets.

Intermission games will also take place and a 50-50 drawing will be conducted.

SPECIAL MEETING

The Clay County Building Corporation has scheduled a special meeting for Tuesday, March 20, at 8 a.m., in the Commissioner's Courtroom of the Clay County Courthouse.

Food Giveaway!

The Church of Our Lord Jesus will conduct a food giveaway Saturday, March 24, from 1-3 p.m., at its church, 708 E. Hendrix St., Brazil.

The Brazil Public Library will host Yankee Rose, Tuesday, March 27, at 6:30 p.m.

The landscaping and nursery specialists will present, "Getting Your Garden Ready."

Dinner Time!

The Lady Volunteers of Staunton will serve dinner at the Staunton Community Center March 30, from 4-7 p.m.

The menu will include baked steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, homemade yeast rolls, slaw, drinks and dessert.

Cost is $9.
