The Western Indiana Community Action Agency, Inc., announced Monday it has plans for an Energy Assistance Program for Vigo, Clay and Putnam counties.
The program has remaining funding available for low-income families that have not yet received assistance for the 2011-12 heating season.
The assistance is available to aid in the cost of primary heating source expenses, including electric, natural gas, bottle gas, oil, kerosene and wood.
In Clay and Putnam counties, applications will be taken by appointment only.
Those interested may schedule an appointment by calling the 443-0122, Monday-Friday, from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m., with the exception of noon-1 p.m., when the office, located at 819 W. Knight St., Brazil, is closed for lunch.
All applicants must bring the following documentation in order to apply for assistance:
* Verification of income for all household members for the past 12 months,
* Social Security Cards for all household members,
* Current household heating and electric bills (must be in an adult household member's name), and
* A copy of lease/rent agreement if applicable.
