The Northview High School Drama Club will perform, "Bard in a Box," by Ruth Buchanan, a modern day version of Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew," Friday, March 16, at 7 p.m., and Saturday, March 17, also at 7.

"It is a light comedy about a field trip gone horribly wrong," NHS Drama Director Kirsten Snow said. "The play's 15 actors will be playing themselves, sort of."

According to Snow, the students find themselves stranded in a cabin after their bus breaks down during a horrible storm.

"Since there is no cell service, and they have nothing to do, they play a game labeled, 'Bard in a Box,' or 'The Taming of the Shrew.'"

Some students play themselves during the show, as well as multiple other characters.

"It's a play, within a play, within a play," Jaike Matthews said.

Matthews is on-stage best friends with Ethan Stewart's character, The Jock.

"I play this preppy kid who thinks he's better than everyone else, but I also play a noble lord and another character named Lucentio," Matthews added.

To purchase presale tickets, call 448-2661 Ext. 1235.

Tickets may also be purchased the evening of the event.

Prices are $7 for adults and $5 for students.

"This family friendly comedy promises to be a good time for all," Snow said.
