She was born May 1, 1930, in Clay County, as the daughter of Harold and Charlotte Akers Britton.
Following graduation from Brazil High School, she attended Indiana State University.
She married Claude Wm. Walker Sept. 19, 1948. He preceded her in death Feb. 28, 2005.
She was a member of the First Christian Church of Brazil and attended Union Christian Church of Terre Haute. She had worked for many years as a kindergarten teacher at First Christian Church. She was also a member of Tri Kappa Sorority and the Clay County Homemaker's Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Claude Wm. Walker.
She is survived by sons Steve Walker, Indianapolis, and Randy Walker and his wife Christel, Terre Haute, grandchildren Rachelle Winn and husband Jim, Terre Haute, Shane Walker and fiance Melissa Timmons, Terre Haute, Ryan (Sarah) Walker, Plainfield, Dustin (Sarah) Walker, Carmel, Chad Walker, Indianapolis, and Andrew Walker, Indianapolis, great-grandsons Drake Winn and Matthew Walker, great-granddaughters Addison Walker and Kennedy Walker, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m., Sunday, March 18, at Moore Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Monday, March 19, at the funeral home, with Pastor Mark Grayless officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery.
