Republican John D. Fagg, Jr. is running for Clay County Coroner in the upcoming Primary election.

"This is something I've thought about doing for a little while now, and I feel qualified for the job," Fagg said.

A lifelong resident of Clay County, Fagg currently works as a paramedic with TransCare Ambulance Service, Brazil. Fagg is also a volunteer firefighter with the Lewis Township Fire Department and a part-time paramedic for both Greene County Ambulance Service and Sullivan City Fire Department.

In the 1990s, Fagg served his country in the United States Navy for three years.

After Hurricane Katrina, Fagg spent a year-and-a-half in Gulfport, Miss., using his skills to help those in need.

"I have experience in mass casualty incidents," Fagg said. While in Gulfport, Fagg worked as a paramedic for two ambulance services and volunteered with Samaritan's Purse, helping to rebuild houses and clean up property.

Fagg is married with three daughters.
