TERRE HAUTE -- The Terre Haute Sinfonietta Pops Orchestra will perform "Forbidden Notes," Sunday, March 25, at 3 p.m., in the Scottish Rite Hippodrome Theatre.
The theme was selected in collaboration with the Vigo County Public Library's "Wabash Valley Big Read" program, which selected the book "Fahrenheit 451," as the book for all to read in 2012.
Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students.
Children 10-under will be admitted free.
Nancy Dowell, Director of the Vigo County Public Library, will be the emcee/narrator for the concert.
Dowell has worked for the library since 1984 and was named director in 1999.
Guest violinist Sharilyn Spicknall will perform the solo for "Three Pieces from Schindler's List.
In addition, selections will be performed from "Exodus," by Ernest Gold, and "The Diary of Anne Frank," by Emmanuel Vardi.
The piano solo in "Exodus," will be performed by Doris Pell.
The "Huckleberry Finn Overture," by Eric Delamarter will also be performed, as will "Piano Concerto No. 2 in C Minor, Op. 18," by Sergei Rachmaninoff.
Other selections slated to be performed include "Zigany," by Ferenz Nagy, and "Pennywhistle Jig," with a piccolo solo by Barbara Cooper.
