Northview winter guard places fifth at state

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Northview High School winter guard took part in the Indiana High School Color Guard Association State Finals Saturday, placing fifth overall.

Competing in World Class, Northview scored a 79.

Carmel won the event, which took place at Center Grove High School, with an 87.4, followed by Lawrence Central's 83.7, and Warren Central's 83.4.

Avon placed fourth with a 79.4 and Center Grove was sixth, scoring a 73.3.

Scottsburg won Class A competition with a score of 85.2, while Greenwood won the Open Class Division with an 84.6.

The Knights will next take part in the Winter Guard International (WGI) Midwestern Color Guard Championship Saturday and Sunday at Worthen Arena on the campus of Ball State University in Muncie.

NHS will compete in the Scholastic World Division and will perform at 7:05 p.m.

Other schools taking part include Carmel (6:25 p.m.), Lawrence Central (6:35 p.m.), Norwin High School (6:45 p.m.), Miamisburg (6:55 p.m.), Warren Central (7:15 p.m.), and Center Grove (7:25 p.m.).

The finals of the event will take place Sunday.

The WGI World Championships are scheduled for April 12-14, and will take place at Xavier University, Wright State University and the University of Dayton.

Northview was very good 5th place was a ripe off.
