The following is a list of upcoming area events as provided to The Brazil Times:

Accepting Donations

The Brazil Times is accepting donations for those affected by the severe weather in southern Indiana.

All money collected will go to the Red Cross's relief efforts.

The Times will accept donations in the form of checks made out to the Red Cross, or cash.

Those who donate more than $5 will receive, or be credited on their account, a free copy of The Times for that day.

Donations will be collected until March 30, and are being sent as they are received.

Daffodils Are Here!

The Daffodils are in.

Those who ordered Daffodils through the American Cancer Society fundraiser may pick them up at The Brazil Times, Monday-Friday, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m., if they were pre-ordered.

In addition, additional Daffodils are on sale for $10 a bunch or $15 in a vase.

Cemetery Notice

Officials with the City of Brazil are asking all to remove all winter decorations from Cottage Hill, Restlawn and other cemeteries by Friday, April 6.

Donations

The Brazil Lions Club is currently accepting used eyeglasses and hearing aids for donations through a recycling program.

Donation boxes have been set up at Terre Haute Savings Bank, 260 E. National Ave., Brazil, or The Brazil Times, 100 N. Meridian St., Brazil.

Scheduled Meetings

The Clay County Local Emergency Planning Committee will conduct its regular 2012 meetings prior to the Clay County Fire Chief's Association at 6 p.m., with the chief's meetings at 7 p.m., during the following dates:

* May 15 -- At the Dick Johnson Fire House,

* Aug. 21 -- At the Van Buren Fire House, and

* Nov. 20 -- At the Posey Township Fire House.

Ag Day Dinner

The annual Farmer's Ag Day Dinner, sponsored by First Financial Bank, will take place Thursday, March 22, at the Clay County 4-H Fairgrounds.

Doors will open at 6 p.m., and the dinner will start at 6:30.

The Clay County Beef Cattle Association will cater the meal.

The speaker will be Purdue Extension Educator-Ag and Natural Resources Clay County representative Jenna Smith.

Tickets cost $6.

Book Sale

The Friends of the Brazil Public Library will conduct a book sale March 22-24, and March 29-31, across the street from the library.

New books will be available.
