James was born June 20, 1942, the son of Harold La Follette and Norma Goss.
James formerly owned Parkway Body Shop in Indianapolis.
James was former seventh district commander of Sons of the American Legion. What James enjoyed the most in the past few years was spending time with his two dogs, Hobo and Hank.
James was preceded in death by his father Harold, brothers Harold Jr. La Follette, and Donnie La Follette, and sisters Phyllis Bryant and Debra Hall.
He is survived by his wife Georgetta (Eubanks) La Follette, daughters Terri, Kim and Julie and spouses, stepsons Alan and Ronald, stepdaughter Louanne, brothers Bill and Carl, sister Vicki, 13 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Services will take place at 1 p.m., Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at French Funeral Home, with Minister Rob Dispennett officiating. Burial will follow at Wright-Bethel Cemetery, Waugh, Ind.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 27, 2012, from 4-8 p.m., at the funeral home.
