The following is a list of upcoming area events as provided to The Brazil Times:

Cornhole!

On Thursday, April 5, a Cornhole Tournament and Bake Sale will take place at Northview High School to benefit the NHS Post Prom.

Cost is $15 per team and the event begins at 6 p.m.

The plan is, weather permitting, for the event to take place in the parking lot.

'The Promise'

Members of First Christian Church, 1875 W. United States 40, Brazil, will present "The Promise," Friday, April 6, Saturday, April 7, and Sunday, April 8.

Showtimes are 7 p.m., April 6 and April 7, and 6 p.m., April 8.

Easter Egg Hunt

The American Legion Post 2 will conduct its annual Easter Egg Hunt Saturday, April 7, at 1 p.m., at Forest Park.

The event will be hosted by the American Legion Riders.

In the event of inclement weather, the hunt will take place at the Brazil National Guard Armory.

Meeting Scheduled

The Clay County Board of Health will conduct its quarterly meeting Monday, April 9, at noon.

The meeting will take place in the conference room located in the lower level of the Medical Office Building, 1214 E. National Ave., Brazil.

Board To Meet

The Brazil Common Council will conduct its monthly meeting at 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 11, in Brazil City Hall Council Chambers.

General business will be discussed and the public is welcome to attend.

Heavy Trash Pickup

The City of Brazil Sanitation Department has announced its heavy trash pickup for the month of April.

The department has scheduled the following for pickup:

* April 13 -- For the regular Monday route,

* April 20 -- For the regular Tuesday route, and

* April 27 -- For the regular Wednesday and Thursday route.

The department stated it will not pick up batteries, roofing, siding, tires, building materials, televisions or computers.

'Holes for Hope'

Bridges of Indiana and the Hearing Care Center have teamed together to conduct the first "Holes for Hope," golf outing to benefit Autism April 13, 2012, at the Terre Haute Country Club.

Registration will be from 10:30-11:30 a.m., with lunch from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. A shotgun start is planned for 12:30 p.m.

Craft Fair Scheduled

The Spring Fling Vendor Craft Fair will take place Saturday, April 14, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., at the Clay County 4-H Fairgrounds.

The event will feature more than 30 local vendors with products, gifts and luxury items.

Food will be provided by the Popcorn Festival of Clay County.

All proceeds from a raffle will go toward the Popcorn Festival of Clay County.

Spring Fling is sponsored by The Seasoned Wick, opening soon on National Avenue, Brazil.

Fish Fry

The Habitat for Humanity of Clay County Board of Directors will conduct a Jonah Fish Fry and silent auction April 14, from 4-7 p.m., at the Brazil National Guard Armory.

Board members will be selling tickets in advance for a savings of 50 cents per ticket.

At the door, cost to attend will be $8 for adults and $5 for children ages 5-10. Children under 5 will be admitted free.

Desserts will also be available at a cost of $1.

Political Forum

The Clay County Chamber of Commerce and Clay County Farm Bureau will host a political forum Monday, April 16, at 6:30 p.m., at the YMCA of Clay County, 225 E. Kruzan St., Brazil.

The public is invited to attend the event.

Blood Drives

The Indiana Blood Center hosts hundreds of blood drives each month.

The following blood drives will take place in Clay County during April:

* April 19, 8:30-10:30 a.m., St. Vincent Clay Hospital, McRoy Center, and

* April 21, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., First United Methodist Church.

Donors can find the most up-to-date blood drive information at www.donorpoint.org, or by calling 1-800-632-4722 and selecting Option No. 4.

Service Program Set

The Brazil Public Library will present, "Day in the Life of a Serviceman," by guest speaker Troy Nichols, at 6:30 p.m., April 26.

Those interested in attending will learn more of what service people do during a busy day.

Healthy Kids Day

The YMCA of Clay County will host Healthy Kids Day April 28, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., at its location, 225 E. Kruzan St., Brazil.

The Y will host a Health Fair in conjunction with healthy Kids Day in the gymnasium and is currently interested in vendors.
