Restoration project scheduled

Tuesday, April 3, 2012

On Saturday, May 5, from 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m., the Wabash Valley Genealogy Society will sponsor a cemetery restoration workshop -- weather permitting -- at Smith Cemetery in Honey Creek Township, Vigo County.

Brad Mazenberger, owner of Stone Revival Cemetery Restoration, Franklin, will lead the workshop.

During the workshop, participants will learn about Indiana law as it relates to cemetery care and access.

In addition, the proper techniques and procedures for cleaning, preserving and resetting grave markers will be demonstrated. This is a "hands on" workshop. All participants will have the opportunity to complete gravestone cleaning and resetting.

The registration fee is $10 for Wabash Valley Genealogy Society members and $15 for non-members. Advance registration is required and may be done online at www.inwvgs.org.

For more detailed information about the workshop and directions to Smith Cemetery, log on to the organization's website or call Linda Gregory at 812-240-1405, or e-mail genealogyrocks1n2n3@gmail.com.

The Wabash Valley Genealogy Society, based in Vigo County, serves Clark, Crawford and Edgar counties in Illinois, and Clay, Greene, Parke, Putnam, Sullivan, Vermillion and Vigo counties in Indiana.
