The Northview junior varsity squad pounded out 14 runs in the first inning on the way to a convincing 25-2 victory against Riverton Parke on Thursday evening.
The Knights got a 4-for-5 game from Austin Butts, who tallied three RBI and Jake Harden and Bo Stewart also provided three RBI for the Knights. Stewart was 3-for-4 at the plate and Harden was 2-for-3 with a double. Nate Newton smacked a double as part of a 3-for-5 game and both Kyle Moore and Tanner Wilson had two hits in the victory.
On the mound, Wilson went 3 1/3 innings, allowing three hits, two runs and struck out five while Butts threw 1 2/3, walked three batters and allowed just one hit and no runs.
The Knights are now 1-0 and host West Vigo at 5 p.m. on Monday night.
In the junior varsity cardinal contest against Crawfordsville's freshman team, the Athenians scored four times in the top of the seventh inning to take a 6-4 victory over the Knights.
Tim Tribble had a 2-for-4 day at the plate with an RBI and Damon Bass added an RBI and two base hits. Preston Shuffield had two RBI and pitched six innings, allowing two runs and two hits while striking out five.
Hunter Slack drew two walks and scored twice in the loss.
The Knights (0-1 overall) will play the second game of Monday's doubleheader against West Vigo at 7 p.m.
