JASONVILLE -- Clay City jumped on Shakamak with runs in each of the first three innings and added four in the top of the fifth inning to cruise past Shakamak in Southwestern Indiana Athletic Conference play, 7-1.

Allie Miller had a two-run single to drive in Logan Ellinger and Emmie Kittle with Rachael Cottrell plating Abby Reed and Allie Miller with a two-run double.

Cottrell was 3-for-3 at the plate, scored twice and stole a base while driving in two runs. Miller had a 2-for-4 performance with two RBI's, Shaya Stevenson was 2-for-4 and Madison Booe was 1-for-3 with a walk and scored a run. Whitney Jeffers pitched a complete game with seven strikeouts, allowing just one walk and no earned runs with six hits and was 1-for-3 at the plate.

Freshman Emmie Kittle had a base hit, stole two bases, reached after being hit-by-pitch and had a sacrifice bunt. Reed drove in a run, scored once and walked once with a hit.

Clay City won the JV game by a 17-13 score.

Northview softball

BLOOMINGTON -- With the wind blowing out at Winslow Park in Bloomington on Monday evening, the Northview softball team flexed it collective muscles and powered three home runs out of the park on the way to an 11-3 victory over Bloomington South.

The Knights jumped out to a 4-1 lead after three innings before South rallied back with two runs and had a chance to take the lead with runners on second and third with just one out. However, Northview pitcher Taylor Carter struck out the next two batters to end the threat. She had 10 strikeouts in the victory and also pounded out a pair of two-run home runs to place the Knights. Alyssa Conrad added another home run in a 2-for-3 night at the plate.

Whitney Halfhill was 3-for-5 at the plate with two RBI's and a double, Tori Tilley had a hit and scored a run along with Kindra Cox. Ashley Hughes provided a three-hit game and scored two runs as well. Madison Nevins smacked a pair of hits, including a double, drove in two runs and scored once.

Clay City baseball

CLAY CITY -- The Clay City baseball team got a sacrifice fly from Mason Persinger that brought home freshman Seth Barrett with the game-winning run in a 7-6 victory over North Daviess on Monday.

Ben Denker was 3-for-3 with a triple, Blake Cesinger scored twice and stole a base with one base hit and Kole Smith drove home a pair of runs with two sacrifice flies. Brylan Jones also had two sacrifice RBI's while getting the complete game pitching win.

Jones allowed six runs on nine hits, walked seven and struck out six batters. Eason Booe had two hits and scored twice.

The Eels are now 1-4 overall heading into last night's game against North Central (Farmersburg). Clay City is at WRV on Thursday beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Boys team results

Jake Tiefel won the 800 (2:17.59) and 1,600 (5:09.05) ahead of teammate Blake Cochran and Grant Prindiville won the 200 meters (24.52) and was runner-up in the 100 meters (12.25). The 4x800 relay team of Paiden Myers, Tiefel, Michael Brooks and Cochran were winners in 10:01.09.

Girls team results

The Clay City Eels won the 4x800 relay and 4x400 relays in a dual meet with Linton on Monday evening.

The 4x800 relay team of Paige Schroer, Ashley Sumner, Sidnie Crowley and Kesley Wright ran the Eels' best time in three years (11:40) in the victory. The 4x400 relay team of Kayla Sinders, Tiara Skaggs, Sabrina Baumgartner and Kelsey Wright won the event. Wright also won the 1,600 (6:19.04), Schroer won the 800 (3:04.38) and Farmer took the 3,200 with her best time of 15:15.08.
