Chris was born June 14, 1952, in Clay County, the son of Kenneth C. Ramey and Nelle Rose (Fowler) Ramey.
He graduated from Brazil High School with the class of 1970, and later graduated from Indiana University with a degree in business.
Following college, he worked for two years for the Eckrich Company in Atlanta, before returning to Brazil and buying the Brazil Greenhouse and later the Garden Center.
He married Diana Buis in 1974.
Chris was an accomplished horticulturist, landscaper and florist.
He loved the planning and design work of anything to do with trees, plants and flowers.
He, at one time, was very active in the professional memberships of the floral industry, including district president of the FTD Association. He was also president of the Indiana State Forest Association, president of the grower's association and president of the landscaping association and was a member of the society of American Forests.
In the past, he worked with the Brazil Park Board in building the playground area; restoration of the fountain and the landscape work; and decorating for Christmas In The Park.
He also decorated for many businesses in the area for the holidays, including Bemis and Riddell National Bank.
After the business was sold, Chris retired to live on his property in the country.
He loved being outdoors, spending time with his dog, "Dingo," and collecting things.
He was also very well known to never be on time for anything. That being said, he has always enjoyed people, had a big heart and a gracious smile!
He was preceded in death by his father Ken Ramey and brother-in-law Tim Pell.
He is survived by his mother Nelle Ramey, (Dale Alfred) son Petty Officer Carson Ramey and wife Mandy, Baltimore, Md., daughter Cara Ramey and husband Marco Vazquez, Indianapolis, and son Ronny Joe Edward Lawhorn-Ramey, grandchildren Liam and Miles Ramey, sister Kenna Pell (David Gjesvold), St. Croix, nephews Brant Pell, St. Croix, and Kent Pell (Shelby), New York, aunts Marianna Cronk and husband Dick, New Castle, and June Binford, Richmond, the mother of his children Diana Ramey, close friends Darla, Jim and Pam Ringo, and a large circle of other friends.
