Margaret Joan Persinger, 80, Clay City, formerly of Saline City, went to her heavenly home Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at Union Hospital, Terre Haute.

Joan was born in Saline City Aug. 16, 1931, to Charles "Chase" and Mary Moody Johnson.

On Oct. 1, 1949, she was united in marriage to Max W. Persinger.

Joan had been employed by K-Mart and retired after 30 years of service.

She was a member of the Saline City Church, Saline City Ladies Aide Society, Rebekah Lodge in Cory, Ind., and the Saline City Picnic Association.

She enjoyed ceramics and flower gardening.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Joe, Charles, Robert and Max Johnson, sister Mary Carroll, brother-in-law Frank Carroll, sisters-in-law Wilma and Polly Johnson, mother-in-law Lula Ann Schpferman, and son-in-law Virgil Baumgartner.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Max, daughters Marlene (Brent) Graham, Barbara (Harrison) Harden, Margy (Gill) Hudgens, and Maxine (Jack) Klingler, grandchildren Troy Baumgartner, Stacy (Steve) Everhart, Jeannie (Brad) Elliott, Jamey (Bobbi) Harden, Derek Myers, Leslie (Nate) Myers, Michael (Jennifer) Klingler, and Jeremy Klingler, great-grandchildren Lindsay, Jeanna, Hallie, Ashley (Jesse), Austin, Abbey, Zackary, Wesson, Joslyn and Cambree, sister Shirley (Marvin) Lunsford, several nieces, nephews and other loving family members and Sammie, her beloved dog.

Services have been entrusted to Moore Funeral Home. A graveside funeral service will be 2 p.m., Monday, April 16, at Summit Lawn Cemetery with Pastor Tom Roeschlein officiating.

Visitation will be from 1:30-2 p.m., at the cemetery.
