Fourth-ranked Lakers shut out Knights

JASONVILLE -- The Northview Knights couldn't mount much of an offensive threat on Thursday night at Shakamak. The Lakers broke open a one-run baseball game with a three-run sixth inning on the way to a 4-0 victory over the Knights.

The Class A fourth-ranked Lakers sent Patrick Green and Brock Dowell to the mound the pair held the Knights to just two hits in the game. Kodie Girton had both of those hits for Northview, which drops to 6-2 overall. The Lakers improved to 5-1 this season.

Dowell was 2-for-4 in the game with an RBI. Northview's Zach Hull drew three walks in the game.

For the Knights, Craig Peters got the start and allowed just one earned run over 5 2/3 innings and struck out 10 batters while walking only one. He allowed a total of three runs overall and just two hits, but the Knights committed four errors in the game.

The Knights host Plainfield for a doubleheader today beginning at 11 a.m.


Northview 'B' team

JASONVILLE -- The Northview junior varsity black squad scored an 11-1 victory over Shakamak on the road Thursday night, scoring seven runs in the fourth inning to complete a 10-run rule victory.

Nate Newton threw all four innings of the victory, allowing just one hit and one run while striking out three and walking one. Newton also had a 2-for-3 night at the plate with a double and three RBI's.

Conner Ganly was also 2-for-3 with a double, Jake Harden also had two hits and three RBI and Bo Stewart was 2-for-3.

The Knights (3-1 overall) play at Plainfield today at 11 a.m.
