Through the UDWI REMC Community Fund, members of the electric cooperative help support local not-for-profit organizations in communities.
Contributing members allow their electric bills to be rounded up to the next whole dollar each month, and the spare change is then collected and distributed quarterly in the form of grants.
The Clay County Cooperative Benevolence Ministry was one of the agencies to receive a grant in March.
Other organizations included Wings of Hope, Girl Scout Troop No. 2552, Owen Valley Middle School Agriculture Discovery, Friends of Shakamak, Jobs for America's Graduates (JAG), Friends of McCormick's Creek State Park, Springville Elementary School Library, Lyons United Methodist Church/Veterans Memorial, Greene County Sexual Assault Taskforce, Linton-Stockton School Corporation-Special Education Classroom, Middle Way House of Greene County, Franklin Township Community Volunteer Fire Department, National Night Out -- Linton Police Department, CASA/Voices For Kids (Greene County), Linton-Stockton School Corporation-FFA Chapter, Salvation Army-Greene County Service Extension, Shakamak High School Guidance Department, and Relay For Life Greene County.
