The Brazil City Fire Department attended a three-hour class to learn how to assist Department of Natural Resources (DNR) divers during ice water rescues. The firefighters had a classroom session and a hands-on session Thursday. They went to Craig Park to get experience assisting with diving equipment and tending rope. Two divers were on the scene while Brazil firefighters practiced rope tugs, which communicate different commands to the divers. According to Brazil Fire Chief Jake Bennett, their goal is to have a quicker response during emergencies by being able to assist the divers.
