LINTON -- The Clay City baseball team continued its surge with a Thursday night victory at Linton by a 6-1 score.
The Eels got a complete game from Brylan Jones on the mound as he struck out nine Miners while allowing two walks and two hit batters.
Colton Harbour was 2-for-4 at the plate with four RBI's and Seth Barrett added a pair of hits in the victory. Ben Denker added a base hit and Blake Cesinger also had two hits for the Eels.
Kole Smith came up with a big defensive play in the sixth inning, throwing out a Linton runner at the plate from left field.
The Eels have now won four of their last five games and are now 4-1 in the SWIAC and 4-5 overall.
Clay City plays at home against Turkey Run this afternoon at 11 a.m.

TERRE HAUTE -- Terre Haute North jumped on Clay City early with three runs in both the second and third innings to top Clay City 7-5 in softball action on Thursday evening.
The Patriots got three RBI's from Kaci McBride to help offset the Eels' Madison Booe, who homered for the fourth time this season.
Booe was 2-for-3 with a home ru n and Mariah Walton added a pair of hits, including a double.
The Eels are back in action today against Turkey Run at 11 a.m.
