Strassenfest to take place next week

TERRE HAUTE -- The 35th annual German-American Strassenfest spring street festival, sponsored by the German Oberlandler Club, will take place April 26-28, at Ninth and Cherry streets in Terre Haute.

Admission is free.

Jay Fox and his Bavarian Showtime band from Fort Wayne and the Alpen Echos from Cincinnati will provide continuous music for dancing and listening, from 4 p.m.-midnight, each evening.

Club members serve German and American foods and beverages, from 11 a.m.-midnight, Thursday, April 26, and Friday, April 27, and from 4 p.m.-midnight, Saturday, April 28.

Take out will be available.

The German Oberlandler Club, a volunteer group, was organized in 1967 to preserve German culture in the Wabash Valley.

Festival proceeds help support community projects.
