The following is a list of upcoming area events as provided to The Brazil Times:
Some roads in Forest Park will be closed during the Subway/Rotary/Riddell Healthy Kids Fun Run practices and race.
Fuqua and Center streets will be closed at King Street. Parts of Nabuca Drive, Bonnie Miller Drive, Tobe Sutherlin Lane and Jesse Pitts Drive will be closed.
The park will remain open, and all sections will be accessible but may require alternate routes.
Dates and times for closure include 6 p.m., on April 23, 26 and 30 and 6 p.m., on May 3, 7,10, 14 and 17.
On race day, Saturday, May 19, the roads will be closed, from approximately 8 a.m.-noon.
The Brazil Board of Public Works and Safety will meet Monday, April 23, at 10 a.m., to open bids for the demolition of the old water tower. The board will have its regular meeting Wednesday, April 25, at 10 a.m. Both meeting will be in the Council Chambers and are open to the public.
First Fun Run Practice
The first Subway/Rotary/Riddell Healthy Kids 1-mile Fun Run practice will take place April 23, at 6 p.m., at the Forest Park pavilion.
Applications may be picked up at all local elementary schools, at the Brazil Subway Restaurant, Riddell National Bank, the YMCA of Clay County, or at the pavilion the night of the first practice.
The Clay County Retired Teachers Association will conduct its Spring Social at the Harmony United Methodist Church, Harmony, April 24, at 6 p.m., in the fellowship hall.
Gray Beards will perform.
The menu will consist of fried chicken, ham, baked beans, potato salad and drinks will be furnished.
Those interested in attending may also bring a salad or dessert, but it isn't necessary.
Door prizes will also be given.
All newly retired or thinking about retired teachers are invited.

Tryouts for the North Clay Middle School Cadet Corps and Northview High School Color Guard will take place April 25, at 6 p.m., in the Northview gymnasium.

The Brazil Public Library will host a make and take craft for children ages 8-older Wednesday, April 25, between 6-7 p.m.
Those interested in attending will make tissue paper butterflies.
The event is free and open to the public.

The Brazil City Council will meet Wednesday, April 25, at 7 p.m., in the Council Chambers. General business will be discussed. The public is welcome to attend.
Time For Crafts!
The Brazil Public Library will host a make and take craft event for youth ages 7-under at the library Thursday, April 26.
Youth may stop in anytime between 6-7 p.m., to make a spring butterfly windsock. The craft is free and open to the public. For further information, call 448-1981.
The Brazil Public Library will present, "Day in the Life of a Serviceman," by guest speaker Troy Nichols, at 6:30 p.m., April 26.
Those interested in attending will learn more of what service people do during a busy day.

The Lady Volunteers of Staunton will conduct a community dinner Friday, April 27, from 4-7 p.m., at the Staunton Community Center.
The menu will consist of beef and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, salad, dinner rolls, coffee, tea, lemonade and dessert.
Cost is $9 for adults and $5 for children 10-under.
Healthy Kids Day
The YMCA of Clay County will host Healthy Kids Day April 28, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., at its location, 225 E. Kruzan St., Brazil.
The Y will host a Health Fair in conjunction with healthy Kids Day in the gymnasium and is currently interested in vendors.
