Maxine Nevins, 89, Brazil, passed away April 22, 2012, following a long illness.

Maxine was born July 16, 1922, the daughter of Isaac "Ike" and Letha (Burger) McVey in Dick Johnson Township, in Clay County.

She went to Perth Elementary and Brazil High School, graduating in 1940.

Following school, she worked for a time at the G.C. Murphy store.

On May 17, 1947, she married the love of her life, James Nevins.

They lived on a farm on West Rio Grande Road and built a home on the farm where she was born.

In her spare time, she enjoyed helping on the farm, planting flowers and shrubs, reading and working crossword puzzles.

Maxine belonged to Dick Johnson Fireman Auxiliary and the Dick Johnson Homemaker Club.

She was a member of Bee Ridge Congregational Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ike and Letha, husband Jim on March 15, 2008, twin brothers Ray and Roy, a baby sister and brother.

Survivors include son Dennis Nevins, Brazil, sister-in-law Ruth McVey, niece Rebecca Norrenbrock and husband Eric, Evansville, and her children Christopher, Tyler and Keely, along with other extended family.

Graveside services will be Thursday, April 26, 2012, at 4 p.m., at Bee Ridge Cemetery, with Pastor Richard Piatt officiating.
