Dwain Patrick Downey, 71, Brazil, passed away at home April 22, 2012, following a lengthy illness.

Dwaim was born March 29, 1941, in Nortonville, Ky, the son of Boyce and Kathleen (Welch) Downey.

Dwain was a part of the Van Buren High School graduating class of 1959.

Following school, Dwain joined the United States Army.

While he was in the Army, he was a part of the honor guard, where he played the trumpet. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and was considered an expert rifleman.

Dwain worked as a salesman at Colonial Brick for 30 years.

He enjoyed throwing horse shoes, playing pool and amateur radio.

Dwain and Sherri Hill were united in marriage May 27, 2002.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Dwain is survived by his wife Sherri Downey, Brazil, daughters Kerin Downey-Reberger and husband Mitch, Brazil, and Beth Brehob and husband Joe, St. Louis, son Steve Downey and wife Kelly, Plainfield, stepsons Jeffrey Galbraith II and Josh Galbraith, Brazil, brothers Down Downey and wife Linda, Knightsville, and George Downey and wife Sally, Brazil, grandchildren Kaysia and Zade Reberger, Adam, Ben, Clara, Daniel and Ellie Brehob, and Paige Downey, father-in-law Bob Hill and wife Rana, mother-in-law Carolyn Crane and Leon Hofmann, brothers-in-law Bob Hill Jr. and wife Cindy, Brazil, Scott Hill and wife Mandy, both of Brazil, sisters-in-law Samantha Crane, Arizona, and Rebekah Keller and husband Ben, Brazil, along with several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Services will be Thursday, April 26, 2012, at 1 p.m., at Lawson-Miller Chapel with Pastor Bob Kumpf and Pastor Mike Hay officiating.

Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m., until time of services.
