Northview tennis falls to Patriots

Visiting Owen Valley came through with key third set wins to gain a girls' tennis win on Tuesday night at Northview High School.

The Patriots won a 5-0 team decision, but the Knights pushed Owen Valley to third sets in two of the matches.

The Knights lost a tie-break 8-6 at No. 1 singles as Haley Leach lost a 6-3, 7-6 (8-6) decision to the Patriots' Kayla Samick. In doubles play, Jenna Smith and Trisha Cox won the opening set 6-3 before Owen Valley won the final two 6-4, 6-4 to get the win. At No. 2 doubles, the Knights' team of Kaysia Reberger and Shelby Timberman won the second set, but fell 7-5, 0-6, 7-5.

The Knights were able to claim the junior varsity match by a 5-1 score.

Northview returns to action on the road this evening at Edgewood beginning at 5 p.m.
