Brazil residents Don and Cathy Cooksey, opened their own barbecue stand and are smoking it the right way -- for a long time and with real wood.
According to Cathy, the two had always liked the idea of doing a concession stand and with Don's barbecuing prowess they decided to open Buckshots Smokin' BBQ.
"(Don's) always cooked barbecue for family and friends, and they've always said how good it was," Cathy said.
According to Don, he smokes his barbecue with real wood for anywhere from 12-16 hours.
Cathy said they have been set up at their spot at 722 West National Ave., for two weeks, but they have had the trailer for approximately three months while they furnished it and looked for good spots. She said they were looking for a place with plenty of room and parking when they decided to lease the spot they're in now.
Cathy said they offer the classic pulled pork, as well as, pulled chicken and home made sides like potato salad, baked beans, cole slaw and Cajun corn.
Buckshot's Smokin' BBQ is open 11 a.m.-7 p.m., Monday-Saturday, but Cathy said they will stay open later on Friday and Saturday if they are busy.
