Donations In Need
Anyone wanting to donate clothing or anything for the Flake family, who lost their home April 27, to fire, may bring it to 315 E. Oak St., Brazil. The residents of this home will contact the Flake family for arrangements to get the items to them.
Currently, in need are men's pants, size 36-by-36, women's pants, sizes 13 and 18, boys pants, size 8, shirts (two extra-large for both men and women) and large and extra-large shirts for a teenage female, as well as large or medium shirts for boys. In addition undergarments are needed as well.
The family is also in need of furnishings, such as beds, mattresses and more. All donations are greatly appreciated.
The Clay County Friends of the Library will conduct a book sale beginning May 2, at 4-7 p.m., for members only, then May 3-5, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., daily.
The bookstore is across the street from the library.

National Day Of Prayer
The National Day of Prayer will take place Thursday, May 3, at noon, with prayer time beginning at 12:15 p.m., at the Clay County Courthouse.
The House of Hope, 5525 W. United States 40, will conduct a giant yard sale May 4-6.
All proceeds will go toward supporting the ministry and ongoing renovations.
The Community Theatre of Clay County will present, "The Dixie Swim Club," Friday, May 4, and Saturday, May 5.
A buffet dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m., with the performance starting at 7:15 p.m.
Tickets may be purchased by calling 442-6909, or at the main branch of Riddell National Bank.
Clay County Sheriff's Department, in conjunction with Relay For Life of Clay County, will conduct a golf outing May 5, at the Oak Ridge Golf Course.
The 18-hole tournament will begin at 9 a.m. The tournament is a best-ball scramble.
Cost to participate is $160 for four-person teams or $40 per individual.
Cost to sponsor a hole is $100.
Prizes will be awarded for the first-, second- and third-place squads.
Lunch will be provided at the tourney.
All proceeds from the event will benefit Relay For Life of Clay County.

Local author Marjorie E. Hopkins will speak at the Women's Reading Club at First United Methodist Church, 201 N. Walnut St., Brazil, Saturday, May 5, at 2 p.m.
Hopkins will be on hand signing copies of her new book, "Dying to Meet Him: Wit and Wisdom from a Funeral Director's Wife."
The Clay County Humane Society will sponsor its annual shot clinic Saturday, May 5, from 1-4 p.m., at the Forest Park Pavilion.
Each shot costs $10.
The V.F.W. Loyalty Day Parade will take place Saturday, May 5, at 2 p.m.
This year's theme is, "And Some Gave All."
The lineup will begin at 1 p.m., at the corner of National Avenue and Depot Street.

The Clay City Imperial Regiment will conduct a Fish Fry from 4:30-8:30 p.m., Saturday, May 5, at the Orange Building in Goshorn Park, Clay City.
Advance cost is $7.50 for adults and $5.50 for children. Cost at the door is $8.50 for adults and $6 for children.
Otter Creek Christian Church will welcome The Stanley Family Singers to its church Saturday, May 5, at 7 p.m., for a special performance.
A love offering will be taken.

Clay County Girl Scouts will celebrate 100 years of scouting with the annual "Miss and Me Tea," Sunday, May 6, from 2-4 p.m., at the Renaissance Reception and Conference Center, 101 W. National Ave., Brazil.
Cost to attend is $4 per person.
All former Clay County Girl Scout leaders are invited to attend.
