CORY -- Clay County Emergency Management Agency officials scoured the Cory area Wednesday morning for possible damage after severe storms came through the county Tuesday.

A photograph taken by a Cory resident, depicting what looked like a possible tornado was determined by officials to be a funnel cloud.

Clay County Emergency Management Director Bryan Husband said after seeing the photograph, he contacted the National Weather Service. Officials with the service stated they had seen the same photograph.

Husband told The Brazil Times he and other officials drove around the Cory area looking for significant damage and saw none.

"We could not see any," Husband said. "It (the possible tornado) must have stayed aloft. It sure looked like a tornado. But we drove all over and didn't see anything. There was no major damage at all."

Husband said no residents had confirmed any damage either, but added those who did have any type of damage should immediately call the Clay County Sheriff's Department or 911.
