Sheriff: Missing Ind. girl, 12, found unharmed

Thursday, May 3, 2012

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) -- A western Indiana sheriff says a 12-year-old girl whom authorities feared had been abducted has been found unharmed.

Vigo County Sheriff Greg Ewing tells the Tribune-Star Alyssa Sedletzeck (sehd-LEHT'-zehk) was found Thursday afternoon at a home on Terre Haute's north side after the homeowner called police.

The girl reportedly gave the homeowner a false name while staying there with the homeowner's 18-year-old son.

Ewing says that after the homeowner heard about the missing sixth-grader, he found a picture and description of the girl online and called police. Police are interviewing both the girl and the teenage boy.

Alyssa's parents had reported her missing Sunday night after she told them she was going to visit a friend but never showed up there.

Such good news that she was found alive and safe. What a horrible experience for her family to have had to go thru. In this day and age, with so much crime, this certainly turned out to be better news than probably a lot of people expected.

Now, I admit I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but if my 18 year old son came home with a 12 year old girl in tow, I'd think (1) who the heck does he think he is bringing ANY girl into MY house to stay, and (2) she LOOKS 12, not of legal age, so out she goes, with HIM in tow!
