Senior Citizen's Picnic at end of May

On Friday, May 25, Forest Park, Brazil, will be alive with the sounds of the Area Day Senior Citizens Picnic sponsored by Area 7 Agency on Aging and Disabled. Tickets are $8 per person and available to be purchased by persons 50-plus. The ticket price includes: Lunch, snacks, opportunity to play small games, door prizes, entertainment and the opportunity to visit service/product information booths. The picnic will take place from 10 a.m.-2:15 p.m.

Bruce Borders will bring his "Tribute to Elvis" to the stage, and Melony Brown will be returning to the picnic to share her singing talents. Karaoke will be incorporated as well.

Lunch is being donated by Sunset Harbor (which includes: Meadows Home Health Care, Meadows Manor North, Meadows Manor East and Canon Inn). The menu will be: Ham and cheese sub with lettuce, tomato, mustard and mayonnaise on the side, kidney bean salad, chips and brownie. Ice cream with toppings and popcorn will be provided as snacks by other contributors.

Sunset Harbor is the Platinum Sponsor for this year's event. Nurse Care Inc., is the Gold Sponsor. Reservations must be made in advance on or before May 18. Send check or money order payable to WCIEDD, Inc., along with name, address, city, state, zip, phone, number of tickets being ordered, number of transportation reservations to Area Day Reservation, 1718 Wabash Ave., Terre Haute, Ind., 47807.

Tickets can also be purchased in the office located at 1718 Wabash Ave., Terre Haute, from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. No ticket costs will be refunded after May 14. Van transportation is available in Parke, Vermillion and Vigo Counties on a first come, first served basis. The cost is $8 for the round trip to Brazil -- this is in addition to the $8 for the ticket to attend the picnic. Transportation reservations can be made by calling 812-232-2675 or toll-free at 1-800-489-1561 ext. 248. The fee for van transportation must also be paid on or before May 18.
