DUGGER -- The Clay City Eels pounded out a comfortable win against Union (Dugger) on Thursday night with eight extra base hits, including a pair of home runs in a 23-7 SWIAC victory.
Zack Boggs smashed a three-run home run for the Eels and Colton Harbour added a two-run shot in the victory.
Clay City had 18 hits in all with Ben Denker, Blake Cesinger, Brylan Jones, Harbour, Easton Booe and Trevor Smith each compiling multiple hit games.
Harbour was 4-for-5 with five RBI and scored three times and Booe had a 3-for-4 game with two RBI and scored two times. Denker was 2-for-4 with two RBI, stole four bases and scored twice and Cesinger drove home four runs, stole a base, scored twice and was 2-for-4 at the plate.
Jones got he victory on the mound with five innings of work, allowing six hits and struck out 10. He also had a pair of doubles at the plate, drive in two and scored three times. Seth Barrett was 1-for-2 with two walks and scored twice with Smith going 2-for-2 with two RBI, one stolen base and two runs scored. Kole Smith provided a base hit, walked twice, scored three times and stole a base for the Eels.
Clay City is now 6-1 in the SWIAC and plays against Riverton Parke on Monday at 5 p.m.
