The following is a breakdown of registered voters and ballots from the 23 Clay County Precincts from the 2012 Primary, which took place Tuesday, May 8, including registered voters, number of ballots cast and the percentage of voters who took part:

Brazil 1 -- 1,266 registered voters (232 ballots) -- 18.33 percent,

Brazil 2 -- 1,184 registered voters (266 ballots) -- 22.47 percent,

Brazil 3 -- 1,134 registered voters (228 ballots) -- 20.11 percent,

Brazil 4 -- 791 registered voters (164 ballots) -- 20.73 percent,

Brazil 5 -- 623 registered voters (170 ballots) -- 27.29 percent,

Brazil 6 -- 625 registered voters (104 ballots) -- 16.64 percent,

Cass -- 222 registered voters (52 ballots) -- 23.42 percent,

Dick Johnson -- 1,036 registered voters (268 ballots) -- 26.87 percent,

Harrison 1 -- 782 registered voters (207 ballots) -- 26.47 percent,

Harrison 2 -- 851 registered voters (253 ballots) -- 29.73 percent,

Jackson 1 -- 666 registered voters (223 ballots) -- 33.48 percent,

Jackson 2 -- 1,156 registered voters (354 ballots) 30.62 percent,

Jackson 3 -- 316 registered voters (142 ballots) -- 44.94 percent,

Lewis -- 945 registered voters (242 ballots) -- 25.61 percent,

Perry -- 675 registered voters (192 ballots) -- 28.44 percent,

Posey 1 -- 1,093 registered voters (272 ballots) -- 24.89 percent,

Posey 2 -- 647 registered voters (152 ballots) -- 23.49 percent,

Posey 3 -- 1,219 registered voters (313 ballots) -- 25.68 percent,

Sugar Ridge -- 705 registered voters (221 ballots) -- 31.35 percent,

Van Buren 1 -- 512 registered voters (111 ballots) -- 21.68 percent,

Van Buren 2 -- 720 registered voters (204 ballots) -- 28.33 percent,

Van Buren 3 -- 1,070 registered voters (300 ballots) -- 28.04 percent,

Washington -- 613 registered voters (214 ballots) -- 34.91 percent

Of the 4,884 ballots cast Tuesday, 653 were absentee ballots. There are 18,851 registered voters in Clay County.

Once again the winner of the "Lowest Voter Turnout" award goes to Brazil Precinct 6. I'm tellin' ya, move it away from West Central Village and the turnout will increase. Some respectable people who live there won't even come out during the day any time, lest they be harassed, threatened or robbed.
