EMINENCE -- The Clay City Eels evened their season softball record by drilling Eminence on the road Thursday evening, 14-0 in five innings.
The Eels pounded out a 15-hit offensive attack to score the victory as Whitney Jeffers got the shutout in the pitching circle by allowing just five hits, no walks and struck out three.
Emmie Kittle scored four times, stole four bases and produced two hits for the Eels and Madison Booe scored three times, drove in two runs and had two hits. Abby Reed had two hits, scored once and drove in two runs with Samantha Dyer driving in two runs with a hit. Jeffers had two hits in the game and an RBI with Shaya Stevenson scoring twice, driving in a run and adding a hit. Maria Walton drove in two RBI and scored, Allie Miller scored, drove in a run and had a hit. Clay City also got two hits from Rachael Cottrell and one each from Ali Souder and Alex Wolfe.
The Eels are back in action on Monday at Bloomfield before hosting West Vigo for senior night on Tuesday.
