Northview to host 'Junkyard Jam' Saturday

The third Northview High School (NHS) "Junkyard Jam," will take place Saturday, May 19, at the high school.

A clinic will run from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m., with a performance scheduled for 7 p.m.

"Jammers" will learn percussion techniques from NHS percussion staff and students. They will also receive an official "Junkyard Jam" T-shirt, a pair of sticks, lunch and two passes for the evening show.

Registration will begin at 9 a.m. Those attending should enter Door 5 to the NHS cafeteria.

An introduction will take place at 9:45 a.m., with classes starting at 10. A lunch of pizza -- along with drinks -- will be provided.

A show rehearsal will take place at 12:45 p.m., with a parent preview event set for 3. Students will be dismissed at 3:30 p.m.

Students are asked to return to the school at 6 p.m., in preparation for the 7 p.m., performance. "Jammers" will then perform with the Northview Percussion Ensemble.

Students in grades kindergarten through eighth are eligible to participate.

Admission to the performance is $1.

Cost for participation in the "Junkyard Jam" is $27.

Those taking part are asked to wear black pants to the evening performance.

Registration forms and fees should be sent to Northview 2012 "Junkyard Jam," 3150 W. State Road 340, Brazil, Ind., 47834. Checks should be made payable to the Northview Band.
