Doris Elizabeth (Reynolds) Brand, 84, passed away at Regional Hospital, May 11, 2012, following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's Disease.

Doris was born in Terre Haute, Oct. 8, 1927, the daughter of Harold and Doris (Walton) Reynolds. Doris graduated from Brazil High School with the class of 1945.

Following a lifelong dream of gaining a college education, Doris returned to school in her late 60s where she attended Indiana State University and was inducted into the Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society Kappa Psi Chapter.

Doris married Forrest Brand on Dec. 31, 1947. He preceded her in death in 1986. She worked as a clerk at G.C. Murphy's for 15 years and later for Lawson-Slack Funeral Home as a secretary and bookkeeper retiring in the late 1990s.

Doris was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon.

She was also a member of the Clay County 4-H where she served as a club leader for 16 years, 7:30 HomeEc Club, Clay County Hospital Auxiliary, Preservation Society, Clay County Historical Society and the Women's Department Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Forrest Brand, son Frederick "Freddie" Brand, sister Jean Sneddon and a brother Harold Reynolds.

She is survived by her sons Dan Brand (Lisa), Centerpoint, Ed Brand (Kim), Dade City, Fla., daughter Amy Duell (Jeff), Brazil, son Joe Brand, Brazil, grandchildren Laura Beller (Randy), Matt Brand, Ryan Brand (Brittany), Kristen Brand, Adrien Brand (Kim), Brittney Dalton (Ross), Aaron Duell, Melinda Rosic (Ian), Madeline Brand and Michael Brand, great grandchildren Jesse Beller, Tony Alvarez and Elianah Dalton, and sister Jane Hofmann, as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Services will be at the First Presbyterian Church, 210 N. Walnut St., Brazil, Ind., 47834, Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at 11 a.m., with Rev. Gary Scroggins officiating. Burial will follow at Cottage Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be at Lawson-Miller Chapel, 1702 E. National Ave. Brazil, Ind., 47834, Tuesday, from 4-8 p.m., and again Wednesday, at the church, from 10 a.m., until time of services.
