And that's exactly what he did.
The Northview High School junior recently entered his name into a Pop Quiz Challenge via Channel One News -- an online news network for teenagers nationwide.
The online network had asked viewers to enter their names into a drawing for an opportunity to be flown to Los Angeles to take part in the Channel One News Pop Quiz.
Those interested in entering their name into the challenge could begin doing so April 9. The challenge officially ended April 27.
Aselage told The Brazil Times he found out his name had been drawn during the 2012 Clay County Primary Election Tuesday, May 8.
"I was working the polls when I found out," he said. "My (father) told me. He thought it was a scam. He asked me if I knew anything about it."
Aselage said one of his teachers suggested he enter his name into the contest.
"I went ahead and did it," he said.
Aselage was one of two Indiana high school students chosen to take the trip to Los Angeles. He will depart Brazil Friday and be back Sunday.
While there, Aselage will be a participant in Pop Quiz, a game show similar to Jeopardy.
He said the game show would feature questions regarding current events from the past year.
If he wins, he said he would have the chance to take part in one of Channel One's newscasts.
This will be Aselage's first visit to Los Angeles, but he said he does have family there. While there, the 12 selected students will have an opportunity to do some sightseeing. In addition, they will get the chance to eat at the Hard Rock Café.
The game show will be filmed Saturday.
Channel One News has existed since 1990. In 2005, Channel One News won a George Foster Peabody Award for news coverage on the Sudan humanitarian conflict.
