The Clay County Cooperative Benevolence Ministry recently received a grant in the amount of $1,000 from the Utilities District of Western Indiana REMC.
The grant will be used to assist low income working and unemployed families with utilities and rent.
The Clay County Benevolence Ministry is an alliance of churches, social organizations and individuals who have covenanted together to strive to relieve "human suffering in the Clay County area" through direct assistance with appropriate resources and referrals with educational, emotional, spiritual support and financial aid.
The Clay County Cooperative Benevolence Ministry has been in existence since August 2000. Since that time, there have been more than 2,000 families assisted in the Clay County area.
