Norman was born Oct. 11, 1918, in Bristol, Conn., as the son of Willard Albert and Ruth Adelaide Hamlin Hunt.
Following graduation from high school, Norman attended the University of Connecticut, then he served in the U.S. Army during World War II.in Normandy, Northern France, until his honorable discharge with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
He earned his MS from DePauw University and his Ph.D in Psychology from Indiana State University.
Norman married Rosemary Schopmeyer March 22, 1942, in Poland, Ind. She preceded him in death in 2004.
Norman and Rosemary owned and operated Hunts Pleasant Acres Restaurant east of Brazil from the mid-1950s to 1968. Norman also worked for many years for the State of Indiana within the Department of Corrections, where he served as the Director of Offender Classification.
He was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ in Poland. He was also a member of the BPOE Elks Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents Willard and Ruth, his wife Rosemary, brothers Willard E., Ronald, Roger, and sister Barbara.
He is survived by his son Norman J. Hunt Jr., Reston, Va. (with Hiroko), daughter Norma Rose Murphy, Indianapolis, grandchildren Norman J. "Chip" Hunt III Brazil, Julie A. Milks, Mulberry, Ind. (husband Ray), and great-grandchildren Austin W. Hunt, Brazil, and Nathan A. Milks, Mulberry.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-noon, Thursday, May 24, with a funeral service at noon, at the Zion United Church of Christ, Poland.
Burial will follow at the Zion Cemetery.
