GREENCASTLE - After winning its first sectional title since 2009, the Northview girls' tennis team lost to Crawfordsville Tuesday in regional play, 4-1.

On the No. 2 court, junior Nicole Linton secured the team's only point in a lengthy, match against Athenian sophomore Hannah Chalmers, 6-4, 2-6, 6-3.

"Nicole Linton pulled it out again tonight," Northview head coach Emily Goff said. "She gave it her all. The girl she played was really good. She just proved tonight that next year she's gonna be a really strong player."

No. 1 singles player Haley Leach lost to Crawfordsville senior Megan Leech 6-0, 6-2.

The Athenians' No. 3 player, sophomore Destynee Nelson, blanketed the Knights' senior Kelsey Oehler, 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles, the senior duo of Jenna Smith and Trisha Cox lost to Hilary Sheets and Darcy Fitzpatrick, 6-0, 6-3.

Northview's No. 2 doubles team of sophomore Shelby Timberman and freshman Kaysia Reberger fell to seniors Morgan Raters and Elizabeth Flynn 6-1, 6-1.

Despite the loss, Goff was proud of her girls' performance.

"I thought the girls played well tonight," Goff said. "Their hard work and determination is what got us here."
