He was born in Douglas, Ariz., Jan. 31, 1949, the son of Maria D. Caughlan. George graduated from high school and then joined the United States Army. He served as a helicopter mechanic in Germany and was honorably discharged in 1970. George lived in several areas across the United States namely Arizona, New York and he finally made Brazil, Ind., his home. George had worked in construction for many years. He also worked at Victory Christian Center, in Seelyville, and was currently employed at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
George enjoyed woodworking, sketching, being out doors and spending time with his family, especially his grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his wife Marsha Caughlan and brother Arthur Caughlan.
He is survived by his mother Maria Caughlan, four sons George "Robert" Caughlan, Indianapolis, Joseph Caughlan, Brazil, Jonathon Caughlan (Cheyenne Brown), Trafalgar, Ind., and Antonio Caughlan (Brittany Butcher), Brazil, grandchildren Madeline, Carmen and Karder, sisters Patricia Caughlan--Noblin and Delfina Caughlan, brothers Mike Caughlan, Ralph Caughlan and John Caughlan, as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Services will be at French Funeral Home, Brazil, Saturday, June 9, 2012, at 7 p.m., with Pastor Mark Thompson officiating. Cremation services will be provided at his request.
