The following is a list of upcoming area events as provided to The Brazil Times:

New Group Forming

The Scrapettes are proud to announce their new scrapbooking group.

They are asking anyone to come have fun with them, make new friends and preserve memories.

Cost is $5 per person and all money goes to the senior center for cost of use of the building.

Those ages 18-older are invited.

The meetings will take place during the last Saturday of each month at the Clay County Senior Citizen's Center, 120 S. Franklin St., Brazil.

Northview Office Hours

The main office of Northview High School will be open Monday, Wednesday and Friday during the summer from 8 a.m.-noon, beginning June 15 through July 23.

Transcripts and work permits may be obtained during those times.

The office will reopen for regular business hours Tuesday, July 24.

Scheduled Meetings

The Clay County Local Emergency Planning Committee will conduct its regular 2012 meetings prior to the Clay County Fire Chief's Association at 6 p.m., with the chief's meetings at 7 p.m., during the following dates:

* Aug. 21 -- At the Van Buren Fire House, and

* Nov. 20 -- At the Posey Township Fire House.

Blood Drives to take place

The Indiana Blood Center will host two more blood drives in June in Clay County.

The following are the locations of the blood drives, including date and times:

* June 11 -- Holly Hill, 10 a.m.-noon, and

* June 16 -- Annunciation Church, 9 a.m.-noon.

Girl Scout Camp

Girl Scout Camp will be June 11-15, at the ISU Field Campus, located off United States 40, for girls going into first-grade through twelfth-grade.

Cost for non-registered girls is $52, and $40 for registered girls.

Meeting Set

A regular meeting of the Brazil Parks and Recreation Board will take place at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 12, at Brazil City Hall Council Chambers.

General business will be discussed and the public is welcome to attend.

Work Session set for Tuesday

The Clay Community Schools board will conduct a public work session school boar meeting Tuesday, June 12, at 6:30 p.m.

The meeting will take place at the new site of the transportation department, 410 W. Pinckley St., Brazil.

The board is expected to review the renovation proposals for the new bus garage facility.

Board Meeting scheduled

The Brazil Board of Public Works and Safety will conduct a meeting at 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 13, at Brazil City Hall Council Chambers.

General business will be discussed and the public is welcome to attend.

Council To Meet Wednesday

A regular meeting of the Brazil Common Council will take place at 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 13, in Brazil City Hall Council Chambers.

Board To Meet

The Board of Commissioners for the Brazil Housing Authority will conduct its monthly meeting Thursday, June 14, in the offices of the Brazil Housing Authority, 122 W. Jackson St., Brazil.

Go-Kart Racing scheduled

The annual Go-Kart races at Forest Park will take place Saturday and Sunday, June 16-17, at the Forest Park Race Track.

Events will run from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Saturday, with SIRA set up and practice sessions.

Racing will begin at noon, Sunday.

Baby Shower set for June 21

MDWise will sponsor the annual Bluebelle's Baby Shower June 21, from noon-2 p.m., at the YMCA of Clay County, 225 E. Kruzan St., Brazil.

The event is open to any and all pregnant women in the community.

Games, prizes, giveaways, snacks and valuable information for expectant mothers will be available.

Dinner is served!

The Lady Volunteers of Staunton will host a dinner at the Staunton Community Center Friday, June 22, from 4-7 p.m.

The meal will consist of beef and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, salad, dinner rolls, coffee, tea, lemonade and dessert.

Cost is $9 for adults and $5 for children 10-under. All proceeds will benefit the new Posey Township Volunteer Firehouse.

Flushing Hydrants

The Staunton Water Works will be flushing fire hydrants June 26 through June 28.

Basketball Camp

The YMCA of Clay County, in conjunction with First Christian Church, will sponsor the Mega Sports Basketball Camp July 30-Aug. 3, from 6-8 p.m., each evening.

The event is offered to boys and girls entering into fifth- and sixth-grade.

Cost is $25, which includes a T-shirt, water bottle, sports cards and a Bible.

Registrations are due by July 16.
