The following is a list of upcoming area events as provided to The Brazil Times:

New Group

The Scrapettes are proud to announce their new scrapbooking group.

They are asking anyone to come have fun with them, make new friends and preserve memories.

Cost is $5 per person and all money goes to the senior center for cost of use of the building.

Those ages 18-older are invited. The meetings will take place during the last Saturday of each month at the Clay County Senior Citizen's Center, 120 S. Franklin St., Brazil.

Vendors Wanted

Local non-profit food booth vendor applications are available on the Rotary Club of Brazil website (www.brazilrotary.org).

Rotarian Sam Crawn is in charge of local food booths and may be reached at 448-2877 for more information.

In addition, those interested in having a food booth at the upcoming Rotary Club of Brazil 4th of July celebration may mail or deliver a completed application, copy of organization's State of Indiana non-profit tax exemption certificate and booth reservation fee to Crawn at Sam's Do-It-Best Hardware, 105 S. Forest Ave., Brazil.

Booth reservation checks should be made payable to Rotary Club of Brazil.

Office Hours

The main office of Northview High School will be open Monday, Wednesday and Friday during the summer from 8 a.m.-noon, beginning June 15 through July 23.

Transcripts and work permits may be obtained during those times.

The office will reopen for regular business hours Tuesday, July 24.

Scheduled Meetings

The Clay County Local Emergency Planning Committee will conduct its regular 2012 meetings prior to the Clay County Fire Chief's Association at 6 p.m., with the chief's meetings at 7 p.m., during the following dates:

* Aug. 21 -- At the Van Buren Fire House, and

* Nov. 20 -- At the Posey Township Fire House.

Board Meeting

The Brazil Board of Public Works and Safety will conduct a meeting at 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 13, at Brazil City Hall Council Chambers.

General business will be discussed and the public is welcome to attend.

'Dream Big'

Youth may stop by the Brazil Public Library Wednesday, June 13, at 1:30 p.m., to "Dream Big."

They may come to the library to see and hear about a Super Stock Race Car.

Youth are encouraged to bring cameras.

The program is free and open to the public and is sponsored by the Clay County Friends of the Library. For more information, call 448-1981.

Council To Meet

A regular meeting of the Brazil Common Council will take place at 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 13, in Brazil City Hall Council Chambers.

General business will be discussed and the public is welcome to attend.

Board To Meet

The Board of Commissioners for the Brazil Housing Authority will conduct its monthly meeting Thursday, June 14, in the offices of the Brazil Housing Authority, 122 W. Jackson St., Brazil.

Racing!

The annual Go-Kart races at Forest Park will take place Saturday and Sunday, June 16-17, at the Forest Park Race Track.

Events will run from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Saturday, with SIRA set up and practice sessions.

Racing will begin at noon, Sunday.

Baby Shower

MDWise will sponsor the annual Bluebelle's Baby Shower June 21, from noon-2 p.m., at the YMCA of Clay County, 225 E. Kruzan St., Brazil.

The event is open to any and all pregnant women in the community. Games, prizes, giveaways, snacks and valuable information for expectant mothers will be available.

Flushing Hydrants

The Staunton Water Works will be flushing fire hydrants June 26 through June 28.

Meeting Date Changed

The Harmony Town Council has rescheduled its July 2012 meeting.

The meeting will take place Tuesday, July 10, rather than July 3, due to the Fourth of July holiday. The meeting will take place at 7 p.m., at the Harmony Community Center.
