PARKE COUNTY -- Dogwood Farms, a Parke County nursery specializing in hostas and shade gardening, is reopening its doors for one day only.
The event will take place Saturday, June 16, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
In case of heavy rains or threatening weather, the event will be moved to Sunday, June 17.
Located in southeast Parke County, the farm may be reached by turning east of State Road 59 via County Road 720 South, approximately nine-and-a-half miles north of United States 40 in Brazil.
Closed since 2010, the nursery featured a number of shaded display gardens surroundings the owner's home and a hosta collection of more than 400 different varieties.
Owners Bob and Becky Whitmore chose to open the gardens for a Meet-the-Candidate event.
Mark Spelbring, who is running for the 42nd District seat in the Indiana House of Representatives, will be the featured guest.
No plants will be sold, but admission to the gardens will be $10, all of which will go to Spelbring's campaign.
Each person attending will qualify for hourly drawings to win free hosta plants from the Whitmore's collection, free homemade refreshments and more.
