INDIANAPOLIS -- French Funeral Home, Brazil, recently received the Award of Excellence from the Indiana Funeral Directors Association (IFDA) at its 132nd convention.

The award recognizes those funeral homes that have adopted, maintained and documented the highest professional standards in the areas of legal compliance, community involvement, professional development and family service.

"The award is not a competition. It's not given by vote based on popularity. It is a real achievement for a funeral home staff to meet the high standards of the program and be given this award," IFDA Executive Director Curtis Rostad, CAE, Indianapolis, said. "Each year, they must continue to meet the standards and re-qualify to maintain this designation."

Founded in 1880, the IFDA is the professional organization serving Indiana's funeral service professionals with member services, advocacy and education.

One of the oldest funeral service associations in the nation, IFDA represents 1,600 licensed funeral directors in Indiana.

It holds its convention and exposition every year in downtown Indianapolis, making it one of the oldest and largest ongoing funeral service conventions in North America.

IFDA members subscribe to the highest ideals of ethics and professionalism.
