The following is a list of upcoming area events as provided to The Brazil Times:

Holiday Schedule

The following is a publishing schedule for The Brazil Times for the week of Monday, July 2, to Saturday, July 7.

Papers will be published Monday, July 2, Thursday, July 5, Friday, July 6, and Saturday, July 7.

No newspapers will be published Tuesday, July 3, or Wednesday, July 4, due to the July 4 holiday.

In addition, office hours for the week will be 8 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday, July 2, Tuesday, July 3, Thursday, July 5, and Friday, July 6.

The office will be closed Wednesday, July 4, for the July 4 holiday.

Trash Notice

Due to the July 4 holiday falling on a Wednesday this year, trash pickup in the City of Brazil will run one day behind schedule.

For example, the Wednesday pickup will take place Thursday, July 5, while the Thursday pickup will take place Friday, July 6.

New Group

The Scrapettes are proud to announce their new scrapbooking group.

They are asking anyone to come have fun with them, make new friends and preserve memories.

Cost is $5 per person and all money goes to the senior center for cost of use of the building.

Those ages 18-older are invited. The meetings will take place during the last Saturday of each month at the Clay County Senior Citizen's Center, 120 S. Franklin St., Brazil.

Office Hours

The main office of Northview High School will be open Monday, Wednesday and Friday during the summer from 8 a.m.-noon, beginning June 15 through July 23.

Transcripts and work permits may be obtained during those times.

The office will reopen for regular business hours Tuesday, July 24.

Scheduled Meetings

The Clay County Local Emergency Planning Committee will conduct its regular 2012 meetings prior to the Clay County Fire Chief's Association at 6 p.m., with the chief's meetings at 7 p.m., during the following dates:

* Aug. 21 -- At the Van Buren Fire House, and

* Nov. 20 -- At the Posey Township Fire House.

Health Tour

The Walgreens Way to Well Health Tour with AARP will visit the Rotary Club of Brazil's 4th of July Celebration Saturday, June 30, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

The event will provide health tests, education and consulting services for free.

Fish Fry!

The 57th Center Point Volunteer Fire Department Fish Fry will take place Saturday, June 30, at the Center Point Firehouse.

The event is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.

There will be two serving lines and drive through.

Cost will be $8 for adults and $5 for children.

Live entertainment will be provided. In addition, a dunking booth and ring toss will also be available.

The annual heavyweight horse pull event will start at 8 p.m.

Historical Society To Meet

The Clay County Historical Society will meet Monday, July 2, at 7 p.m., in the lower level of the museum.

The guest speaker for the meeting will be Linda Moreau, who will discuss, "The History of Dolls."

Association To Meet

McCullough Zion Gummere Cemetery Association will meet July 9, at 7 p.m., at Zion Church.

Meeting Date Changed

The Harmony Town Council has rescheduled its July 2012 meeting.

The meeting will take place Thursday, July 12, rather than July 3, due to the July 4 holiday.

All meetings take place at 7 p.m., in the Harmony Community Center.

Yard Sale

Habitat for Humanity of Clay County will have a yard sale Saturday, July 14, from 9 a.m.-noon, in front of Clover Signs in Brazil.

A wide variety of items will be available for purchase.

Donations will be welcome.

All proceeds from the yard sale will help Habitat for Humanity of Clay County build its eighth home for a Clay County family.
