Betty Jean Warren, 84, Brazil, passed away at St. Vincent Clay Hospital, July 9, following a lengthy illness.

She was born in rural Vincennes, Jan. 28, 1928, the daughter of Roland P. and Effie Arlene (Hummel) Walker. Betty graduated from Vincennes Lincoln High School with the class of 1946. Following high school she worked for Indiana Bell for several years.

Betty married James Warren June 5, 1948. The couple moved to Brazil in 1962, and purchased Mace Tire and Battery from Dave Mace shortly thereafter. Together they owned and operated Warren Tire, which is still in operation today.

Betty was a member of Brazil First United Methodist Church. Although Betty worked at the shop from time to time her heart was at home raising her two children and taking care of her home. In her earlier years Betty enjoyed playing cards. More recently she enjoyed spending time with friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers Dallas Walker, Norman Walker and Leo "Squeak" Walker.

Betty leaves behind her husband of 64 years Jim Warren, daughter Jean Bowles and husband Tony, Brazil, son Jeff Warren and wife Lisa, Brazil, grandchildren Scott Jackson (Amy), Valerie Killion (Jesse), Amanda Warren, Brett Warren, all of Brazil, great-grandchildren Madison, Tailyn, Jenica, Kyla Jackson, and Bryer Killion, as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Services will be at French Funeral Home, Friday, July 13, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Steve Loft officiating. Burial will follow at Clearview Cemetery.
