The "Yankees" include "Damn Yankees," that is, the New York Yankees, a favorite Broadway musical along with soldiers of the South and North in "The Blue and the Gray," featuring music of the Civil War by Grundman.
Classic overture of the week is "Light Cavalry," by von Suppe and arranged by Henry Fillmore along with Fillmore's march, "Men of Ohio."
The "Showboat," is a delightful arrangement by Russell Bennett of one of the older Broadway shows with "Old Man River."
"Marian the Librarian," is from "The Music Man," Meredith Willson's musical about deception, love and brass bands.
Back by popular demand is "Memories of Stephen Foster," by Guy Holmes with its hauntingly beautiful "Way Down Upon the Swanee River."
"The Iowa Brigade," and "Call of the Road," by Jewell and Sousa's "The Thunderer," will keep everyone in step.
With the mythical town of River City, Iowa, a river board and Florida's Swanee River in mind, the Brazil Concert Band will head to the shores of the Wabash River Saturday, July 21, for a 5 p.m., dockside program in Fairbanks Park for the Banks of the Wabash Band Festival.
