Carolyn Ann (Ready) Thomas, 68, Nashville, Tenn., and formerly of Grosse Pointe, Mich., died July 18, 2012, at Alive Hospice in Nashville, Tenn., following an extended illness.
Carolyn was born in Indianapolis, July 19, 1943, the daughter of William and Mary (McKeon) Ready. Carolyn graduated from Ladywood High School with the class of 1961.
Carolyn continued her education at St. Mary-of-the-Woods College and graduated with a bachelor's degree in home economics graduating in 1965. She also received a Master's degree in public health from the University of Michigan in 1972.
Carolyn raised two children -- Lesley Hermann and Brendan Thomas. She also spent much of her time volunteering with many civic organizations.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother William Ready Jr., and mother and father-in-law Gerald and Ellen Thomas of Lena, Ind.
She is survived by her former husband and close friend Michael Thomas Birmingham, Mich., daughter Lesley Hermann and husband Peter of Nashville, Tenn., and Brendan Thomas and wife Theresa of Chicago, grandchildren: Hazel Hermann and Alice Hermann, as well as several extended family members.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place Saturday, July 21, 2012, at noon, at Annunciation Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Calcutta Cemetery.
